hijinks in the blogosphere
Main Street Journal takes conservative bloggers to task for their own ethics shenanigans.
It seems to me that we in the blogosphere have some soul searching to do as we advocate ethics reforms at the state and federal level. We’ve got to clean up our own backyards before we can expect the officials we support to do the same. We’re not going to be effective voices for change if we are involved in ethics violations such as writing under false pretenses, deleting records, false advertising or mishandling private information.
He’s right. If we expect our ethical reform opinions to be taken seriously by those in state government, then we should behave ethically in cyberville as well. That doesn’t mean that we aren’t permitted to make mistakes. But deleting posts to hide mistakes, instead of admitting to them, is not how to earn credibility on the subject of honesty and ethics.

I wrote about this once, but then I thought I was wrong.
So I deleted it.
