GOP: the right wing party of big government
Newt is probably right:
“If the Republicans can’t break out of being the right wing party of big government, then I think you would see a third party movement in 2012 . . . Remember, everything Obama’s doing, Bush started last year. If you’re going to talk about big spending, the mistakes of the Bush administration last year are fully as bad as the mistakes of Obama’s first two, three months.”
Gingrich told the students that the current governmental system “is so sick, so out of touch and so arrogant that you’re going to have a nationwide rebellion at the polls of people in both parties who are just fed up.”
This GOP alternative budget proposal only reinforces Newt’s point. My suspicion is that if Republicans pursue this “we’re not quite as bad as Obama” strategy, they will continue to lose. The country will lose too. The President’s budget proposes crippling levels of debt. Eight years of this kind of spending will wreck the economy. If we’re lucky, it might also wreck the stranglehold that the political class has on our country. If we’re not lucky . . .

The Republican Party is totally useless. They feign horror at Big Government spending only when they are out of power.
And Newt Gingrich is *so* 1996.
