White Death in Dixie
I’m in Greenville , SC. At 1:00 pm the rain changed to light snow. As a kid growing up in Ohio this snow would be too light to even make me think that there might be a snow day. But this is South Carolina, and even in the Upstate region snow is quite the attention grabber. I’ve been making “get out the vote” calls and let me tell you that the tone has changed in the last hour. People are really worried about the weather. One guy I just spoke with seemed utterly befuddled when I mentioned that since he had already voted (for Fred, btw) he coud now go out and enjoy the weather. Snow-just the mention of snow- might make all turnout predictions worthless here.

We Western North Carolinians are made of sterner stuff! We don’t let a little snow bother us (much). I was in the grocery store yesterday evening and it wasn’t packed to the gills with milk and bread buyers.
