Huckabee losing evangelicals
Rich Lowry explains why Mike Huckabee will never be the Republican nominee. He also includes a remarkable statistic that I didn’t know: Mike Huckabee is losing the support of evangelicals by increasing margins.
In Iowa, he won 47% of evangelical voters. In New Hampshire his share of the evangelical vote fell to one-third. By the time Huckabee got to Michigan he was getting the vote of only 29% of evangelicals.
He’s losing non-evangelicals too: falling from 14% in Iowa to 7% and 8% in the next two contests.
Maybe the Limbaugh Effect is working, but it’s taking some time. As an unknown in Iowa Huckabee was able to convince evangelicals that he was conservative like them. However, now that he has been subjected to increased media scrutiny and Limbaughs criticism, evangelicals–who aren’t the identity group sheep that the media and the Democrats believe them to be–are increasingly skeptical of him. They’ve given Mike Huckabee a second look and they don’t like what they see.

Thank you for pointing this out. It also applies to homeschoolers, btw.
