Cooper doesn’t salute Pelosi’s white flag
Democrats in the House again tried to pass a defeat resolution yesterday. It’s about the 40th such House bill that was determined to cut funding to American soldiers in Iraq. It passed the lower chamber, but by a smaller margin than the last time it was tried. The bill will not pass through the Senate.
Among Democrats who didn’t support the defeat resolution was Tennessee’s 5th District Representative, Jim Cooper. Good for him. Of special note, Cooper is the only member of the Tennessee legislative delegation to sit on the House Armed Services Committee. I know from personal knowledge it’s a position that he takes seriously. Being on the HASC, he sees better than most of his colleagues what is really going on in Iraq.
Add this bucking of the surrender wing of his party to his emphasis on pork reduction, and even most Republicans would have to admit that Nashville could do a lot worse than Jim Cooper.

Bob, I’m still confused: What are we trying to win? What is victory? When will you personally feel like declaring mission accomplished?
