“It’s a new definition of chutzpah: Confiscate land and charge back rent for the years the owners fought confiscation.”
Now governments who want to exercise Kelo’s new eminent domain powers want you to know that if you try to fight them, you’ll not only lose your home, but you will also pay rent to the government for the privilege of living on “their” property.
Government is out of control if it thinks it’s entitled to this level of power.
Kelo v. New London is about to become the new Roe v. Wade—a Supreme Court decision that ignites a firestorm of protest. Only with Kelo, there’s no one running to defend the land-grabbing decision. Well, except for Harold Ford Jr.
Here in Nashville, people concerned with intellectual property rights better stay tuned to how this fight turns out.
