A little ridiculous

Last night I had to present an ID in order to buy pipe cleaners at Kroger.  Now I know that drug use is a serious problem, but something tells me that there are far more people buying pipe cleaners for kids’ projects and crafts than there are buying them to keep their crack pipes clean.

UPDATE: 

It just occurred to me that instead of being carded because I was buying “drug paraphernalia,” the silly rule was an attempt to keep tobacco products out of the hands of minors.  Unless I’m missing the latest trends (something my 12-year old daughter tells me I do quite a bit) I don’t think that teenagers are taking up pipe smoking.

    I don’t think that teenagers are taking up pipe smoking.

    I tended to prefer smoking from a bowl (pipe) more than I did smoking joints when I was in my youth.
