Getting a Ford off the road
Former State Sen. John Ford was convicted of bribery today. Nearly two years after he and four other state legislatorswere arrested in the “Tennessee Waltz” sting, Ford now faces up to ten years.
The Shelby County jury found him not guilty on three counts of witness intimidation but could not reach a verdict on the charge of extortion.
John Ford’s legal troubles are not over. In addition to the unresolved extortion charge, Ford still faces federal fraud charges for his “consulting” work with Tenncare contractors while he chaired the state senate committee overseeing Tenncare.
