at least we come together to honor the soldiers

I’m proud of America’s Left for learning from their Vietnam experience in at least one important way. They’ve decided that this time, they’re not going to take to shower their displeasure about a war on the soldiers who fight it.
There is nothing left or right in this report about a fallen cavalryman from Tennessee. However, it just dawned on me that at least when soldiers are spat upon or even beaten by "peace activists" today, it is such an uncommon occurrence that it makes the news.

So, you used the article as an underhanded slap at liberals. How very demagogue of you.
Suggesting that peace activists in the ’60s generally spat upon or beat soldiers up because some did is like saying that soldiers would generally shoot down war protestors because some did at Kent State. Or it’s like saying that white police would generally haul out the hoses and dogs against black people because some did in Birmingham during the Civil Rights movement.
By the end of the Vietnam War a lot of people wanted to put it behind them so badly that soldiers were not honored or were forgotten, even by conservatives, even by their own family members. Dishonoring soldiers is not a trait unique to the left; a Bush supporter drove over the road-side crosses Cindy Sheehan set up to honor fallen soldiers. He may have been attempting to dishonor her, but he was also desecrating a memorial meant to honor soldiers.
There’s enough dishonor to go around.

S-town, you have this incredible ability to find offense in everything I write. . . says more about you than it does me.
